Dear Colleague,
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we cordially invite you to attend the upcoming Salvador 2009 Conference and Exhibition, the Eleventh International Congress of the Brazilian Geophysical Society (11th CISBGf) & EXPOGEF 2009 to be held in the city of Salvador, state of Bahia, Brazil, from August 24th to 28th , 2009.
The 11th CISBGf is also sponsored by the Society of Exploration Geophysics (SEG), the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) and the Latin American Geophysicists Union (ULG).
The technological evolution of geophysics, as shown by the advances in seismic imaging will play an important role in exploration and development of the pre-salt reservoirs located in ultra-deep waters of the eastern Brazil continental margin. The development and application of non-seismic technology as a complementary method to seismic is showing to be an important tool on risk reduction. Billions of barrels of oil discovered in deep and ultra deep waters still demand new technologies. The Technical Program Committee of Salvador 2009 is preparing an exciting technical program covering a wide range of geophysical topics pertaining to the oil industry, but also focusing on mining, environmental, solid earth and space geophysics.
Leading edge technology and its applications will also be highlighted as there is a demand for yet more cost effective methods to exploit hydrocarbons and minerals. In addition to the Technical Program, EXPOGEF 2009 is expected to host leading oil companies, data acquisition and processing contractors, hardware and software vendors, and various supply companies. It should be mentioned as well that players in the Brazilian Geophysical industry such as mining, environmental, engineering and nuclear geophysics will have a congenial atmosphere of growth with highly positive expectation.
Salvador is one of the oldest cities in Brazil and is situated in the northeast part of the country. It is famous for its richness in the mystical African culture but also as one of the most developed regions in the recent revitalization of the Brazilian industrial sector. Visitors will have the opportunity to find some of the most beautiful beaches of Brazil, modern buildings and delightful historical constructions from the XVI, XVII and XVIII centuries.
You are invited to come to Salvador and be part of this major event. A special invitation is also extended to spouses and other family members. We look forward to seeing you in the Enchanted Land, Capital of Fun where we can personally wish you a Welcome to Salvador!
